What if every day was Earth Day?

What if every day was Earth Day? Here in Lappe, Ontario, the land is needing some more rest before spring time weather arrives. This picture is from last weekend, near my home by Hazelwood Lake. And this is Lily, my dear friend Katrin's sweet pooch who was my companion last week. I love how dogs remind us to play and be adventurous with wild abandon.

I moved here in May of 2010 in my early twenties and I fell in love with this beautiful landscape. I remember walking to the lake for the first time and looking around and thinking "yes, I belong here." Living close to the land has changed me. Experiencing each season comes with its own unique pleasures and challenges. Over the years, this forest and the creatures here have become like family. The arrival of hummingbirds in late spring, the loon calls from spring until fall, the deep other worldly bellowing of the quaking & shifting lake ice in winter and the year long delight of the chickadees. "These are a few of my favorite things" (*a reference to one of my favorite childhood films, "The Sound of Music"). As I write this, I can hear a thunder storm brewing outside. A sign of spring at long last!

Living in the boreal forest, I naturally began to learn more about the land. Inspired by traditional boreal ecological and cultural knowledge, I sought to learn about the medicinal plants of the boreal forest. BOREAL BODY grew out of a deep love for the land and a wish: that these wildcrafted skincare offerings inspire people to feel connected with the wildness of the boreal forest and recognize their wildness within.

May these plants medicines bring you healing and help you to feel rooted in the earth, standing strong in your power like the trees of the forest and realizing your interconnection with the web of life. May you feel the pure pleasure of being alive.

Every plant and creature has unique teachings and songs to sing, stories of why they came to Mother Earth. What is your song, your story?

You can find more about upcoming events on our BOREAL BODY facebook page. This coming Sunday April 24th, you can also find me in downtown Port Arthur at The Foundry from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm for the Spring 2022 Craft Revival. I hope to see you there! (I can hear more thunder in the distance and now....it's raining!.....and lightning!!) The earth is waking and shaking as I write this.

Take good care and goodnight, ❤ 🌎
